Companion planting

Companion planting is a technique where two or more crops are planted together, with each crop in some way benefitting the others. Plants may help their neighbors by reducing pests and disease, provide shade, or facilitating nutrients in the soil.

Much of the evidence for companion planting is anecdotal, but the practice in its many forms is widely recognized and used in organic growing.
