The widely held opinion is that an 8' high woven wire fence or solid wall is the only way to absolutely keep deer out. This is expensive.

Electric fencing is a deterrent, not an absolute barrier, and so can benefit from being installed systematically, with a clear understanding of deer behavior and the intended outcome, which is to change the deer's habits.
