[edit] Basic soilless potting mix

A soiless potting is sterile, reducing the risk of infecting seedlings with soil-borne diseas. Equal parts perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss does the trick.

Depending on the volume you need, mixing can be a bit of a chore. So far, by biggest bulk mixing is around 20 liters. I add the dry ingredients in a plastic garbage can with a lid that screws on a quarter turn, and roll it back and on forth on its side. After, I add water, pouring in a several liters and mixing it in by hand.

Any type of small cement mixer might work well.
